NEW ORLEANS, LA (WDSU) — The New Orleans Hornets are on their longest winning streak of the year.

The team's three victories in a row account for one-third of their wins this season.

With five wins in their last 10 games, the Hornets have more wins during that stretch than they had in the first 25 games of the season.

The team has made the accomplishment against strong competition: The Houston Rockets came into Wednesday night's game winners in eight out of 10 and five in a row before the Hornets notched the 88-79 victory.

On Monday, the Hornets defeated the San Antonio Spurs -- the team with the most wins in the NBA this year.

Health is a huge reason the Hornets are winning, with Anthony Davis and Eric Gordon back in the lineup for the first time.

Hornets head coach Monty Williams also credited the home crowd for providing a boost.

"We didn't even have a packed house. It was crazy," Williams said. "The people who did come, I thank them with all my heart. The screaming and applause, even when we were down, it means a lot. We want our fans to understand we play for them."

The Hornets play their third home game this week as the Minnesota Timberwolves come to the Hive on Friday night.
