NEW ORLEANS (WVLA) - Just over 15,000 fans paid to witness head coach Monty Williams get his first win as an NBA coach Wednesday night as the Hornets defeated the Milwaukee Bucks 91-95. Point guard Chris Paul scored 16 points and dished out 17 assist. Forward David West added 22 points and 7 rebounds.

"He's not just a head coach. He's more than that because he really wants us to succeed and he puts a lot of time in," Paul said. "So we were happy to get him his first win and his first game ball."

Former LSU standout Marcus Thorton continued his role as a spark off the bench scoring 8 points in just 11 minutes of action. Seven players that were not on last years squad saw playing time including starter Marco Bellinelli who had 18 points and 6 rebounds.

The Hornets next game is Friday, October 30th at home against the Carmello Anthony and the Denver Nuggets (1-0).
