The New Orleans Hornets announced today that they have acquired guard Matt Carroll from the Charlotte Bobcats in exchange for forward Hakim Warrick.
“Hakim has been the ultimate professional while in New Orleans, even while receiving limited minutes, and we wish him the best in his new opportunity, Hornets General Manager Dell Demps said.”

Carroll (6-6, 212), is in his ninth season in the NBA after originally being signed as a free agent by the Portland Trail Blazers on Nov. 7, 2003. He holds career averages of 6.6 points, 1.9 rebounds and 0.7 assists in 459 games (84 starts) with the Trail Blazers, San Antonio Spurs, Dallas Mavericks and Bobcats. Carroll holds a career three point field goal percentage of 38.4% and an average of 2.0 three point field goals per game. The Notre Dame product averaged 13.9 points, 4.3 rebounds, 2.4 assists and 0.9 steals in four seasons for the Irish. He ranks among Notre Dame all-time leaders in games played (first, 133), games started (second, 125), scoring (sixth, 1,850 points) and three-point field goals (third, 301).

Warrick, (6-9, 219), who was the 19TH overall of the 2005 NBA Draft by the Memphis Grizzlies, averaged 6.4 points and 2.6 rebounds for the Suns last season over 35 games. He appeared in one game for the Hornets this season, scoring four points in seven minutes. The versatile forward has played for five NBA teams (Grizzlies, Milwaukee Bucks, Chicago Bulls, Suns and Hornets) over eight seasons, with career averages of 9.5 points and 4.1 rebounds in 499 games (94 starts).
