Tim Williams: Basketball star turned football All-American
BATON ROUGE, LA (NBC33) — Believe it or not, Tim Williams hasn’t always been the football star he is today. It was on the hardwood where he first showcased his athletic ability.
"His brother bet him, Nicholas Williams bet him just go out there and try it. He used to say my body is made for basketball but he had that first hit in practice and he fell in love. Since then it has been all football, football, football," Williams mother Carolyn said.
And it’s football that will help take Tim to the next level. He’ll display is talent January 4th at the Under Armour All-American game on national television.
"When I got that call I was amazed. I never thought at that point in time I was good enough to play in that game," Tim said.
Williams has yet to decide where the next level will be for him. His announcement will come at the Under Armour All-American game in January. Even as a father of a one year old, staying close to home and going to LSU is not a slam dunk.
"If I'm playing football I am playing football for her. If I am in the classroom I am in the classroom for her no matter where I go. I know I have a strong family that will support me through whatever. I know that I am not living for myself anymore I am living for her," said Williams
“If he chooses to stay here I will love it. If he chooses to go elsewhere I am still going to love it because I will know that my child is happy doing what he loves to do and that is play football,” his mother said.
Tim has his list of schools narrowed down to five. They are LSU, Alabama, Florida State, Florida and Miami.
