LOS ANGELES, Ca (NBC33) — Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver and Dancing with the Stars contestant Hines Ward is out of police custody after a criminal mix-up.

Los Angeles Police say Ward and a lady friend were stopped early this morning because the woman had reported the car stolen.

Hines was taken from the car at gunpoint and handcuffed until the woman proved the car was hers.

Police say the woman reported the vehicle stolen April 19 after forgetting where she had parked it; she later found it but never canceled the report.
