UPDATED: Monday, July 15, 2013 - 12:20am

NBC33’s coverage of Football Media Days begins Monday in Birmingham as the SWAC will hold their annual event at the Birmingham Marriott. First year head coach Dawson Odums will lead the Jags along with senior quarterback Dray Joseph and senior defensive back Virgil Williams. The SEC will hold their Media Days Tuesday-Thursday in Hoover, Alabama. NBC33’s Matt Boudreaux is in Alabama for the all of this week’s action.

Monday, the SWAC will announce the 2013 All-SWAC preseason teams and predicted order of finish. Joseph led the league in passing in 2012 with 2,511 yards and 25 touchdowns. He was named to the All-SWAC second team following the season. Williams finished second on the Jaguar defense with 62 tackles.

Southern finished last season with a 4-7 overall record. Dawson Odums took over as the interim head coach after two games. Odums led the team to a 4-5 record to close out the year. This biggest win under Odums’ watch was the season finale where the Jags took down Grambling in the Bayou Classic.

Be sure to watch NBC33 News at 6:30 and 10 p.m. for complete coverage all week long.

LSU will go through the media gauntlet in Hoover on Thursday. LSU head coach Les Miles will be joined by senior quarterback Zach Mettenberger, junior wide receiver Jarvis Landry and senior safety Craig Loston.
