Fantasy football minute: Week 9 sleepers
BATON ROUGE, LA — At quarterback, our Week 9 sleeper is none other than Michael Vick. Vick is in danger of losing his starting job, and what better way to get back on track than to face the Saints. There is no reason to think won't get you 250 yards and a pair of scores, with the potential for 30-40 rushing yards on top of that.
If you're looking for a solid week 9 running back with potential to blow up as the season develops, look to Carolina's Jonathan Stewart. The Panthers have supposedly installed a new "power" run scheme and will make Stewart their featured back for the rest of the season. The Redskins are weaker against the pass so expect Cam Newton to blow up, but J-Stew could certainly share in the fantasy bounty that the Redskins offer.
And finally, at wide receiver, try on some Cecil Shorts this weekend. The Jaguar WR has burst onto the scene over the past two weeks, with 22 targets. Those targets have turned into big-time yardage. That streak should easily continue against the Lions porous pass defense.
