BATON ROUGE, LA (NBC33) — There's a new home for skaters in south Louisiana

The BREC Perkins Road Community Park is set for re-opening this Saturday, October 2010. The 52 acre park features a state-of-the-art skate park, BMX track and cycling stadium--among other things.

BREC worked with several companies to complete the project, including a California-based firm that specializes in extreme sports facilities.

The $5 million renovation was funded by a parish tax and private donations.

It all kicks off at 10:00 am at 7122 Perkins Road.

Festivities at this event will include recreational activities, skate demonstrations, food, music and fun. This event is free and open to the public.
