NEW ORLEANS (WVLA) - Saints quarterback Drew Brees was honored as Sports Illustrated's Sportsman of the Year for his great work both on and off of the football field. In February, Brees led New Orleans to their first Super Bowl Championship in franchise history. His work away from the gridiron didn't go unnoticed either. His foundation has worked with almost 50 New Orleans schools and organizations to aid in recovery of Hurricane Katrina. Brees is the 57th recipient of the award.

Terry Bradshaw, Joe Montana, Tom Brady, and Brett Favre are the other NFL quarterbacks who have won the award.

Brees and the Saints (8-3) are currently on a four game winning streak. The Saints travel to Cincinnati to take on the Bengals this Sunday.
