UPDATED: Wednesday, February 6, 2013 - 10:34am

BRCC will host division rival Delgado Community College (DCC) for a men’s and women’s basketball doubleheader today.

The women tip-off the afternoon at 6:00 p.m., with the men’s game starting twenty-five minutes after the conclusion of the women’s game.

The Lady Bears enter the game with an overall record of 13-8; their 3-2 record in conference play puts that in the driver’s seat in the Miss/Lou Conference race with 7 games remaining.

Wednesday’s game will be a rematch of the January 19 game where the Lady Bears won 53-42 at DCC.

The Men’s team is 10-13 overall, but are 6-1 since returning to action following the Winter Break. The hot start has given them a 3-1 conference record and they too, sit atop the Miss/Lou Conference and control their own destiny.

The men beat DCC 86-56 on January 19. Wednesday’s matchup is the 2nd of 3 meetings between the two teams this season.

The campus community is really excited about this game.

The Student Government Association (SGA) has planned a game day tailgate, which will be held on BRCC’s Intramural Field from 4:30 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.

They have also teamed up with Pelican Sports TV to have the games broadcast on tape delay in the Baton Rouge, Lafayette, and New Orleans viewing areas.

“I am very grateful to the SGA for all of their support,” said Athletic Director, Neil Hayhurst.

The SGA is also encouraging everyone in attendance to wear pink attire in support of breast cancer. BRCC’s basketball teams will perform their warm-up routines in their pink shirts.

Free t-shirts will be available at the tailgating event.

Tickets to the game cost $5 for adults, $3 for children, and can be purchased at the gate.
