Saturday was "Drug Take Back Day."  The Environmental Protection Agency along with The U.S. Drug Enforcement Agency sponsored the day to help Americans get rid of unwanted or unused prescription and over- the-counter drugs.  People were able to drop off the unwanted solid drugs at over 1700 locations across the nation, including the State Police Troop A Precinct on Highland Road.

State Trooper Russell Graham says many people flush old drugs down the toilet, but he says that practice is unsafe and could contaminate our water system.  The FDA recommends that you read the labels of your drugs to find out the best way to dispose of them. The agency also recommends removing the drugs from their container and mixing them with things like kitty litter and used coffee grounds to make them undesirable to children, pets, or people going through trash.
