PORT ALLEN, La -- The Port Allen Police Department’s Criminal Investigations Division has arrested Sharon Smith (D.O.B. 02-20-1967, 8678 St. Cecilia Street New Roads, LA. on (89) counts of Felony Theft, (41) counts of Forgery and (1) count of Exploitation of the Infirmed. Smith has been booked into the West Baton Rouge Detention Center. Her bond has not been set as of this release.

Smith was a Home Health Nurse who was providing care to a 63 yr. old male in Port Allen, LA., who has Parkinson’s Disease. Over an eight month period, Smith accessed the victim’s Bank account to pay her personal bills and fund her lifestyle. She took approximately $11,000.00 from the victim’s account.

The Port Allen Police Department is working hard to combat crimes against the elderly and infirmed. We ask that family members and loved ones pay extra attention to the finances of these individuals, especially during the holidays.

How about it is coming up on three years since her arrest. She was arrested the day after Thanksgiving. It is very sad that this gentleman has not received a penny of his money, no restatution or any sort of real punichment. He now living in the war vets home. Which is paid for with his entire social security check. There are no funds for his other nesessities. Such as medicre suppliment, he was never able to get disabillity. Legal help either. There is much more to this! SAD.
