BATON ROUGE, La (WVLA) -- Hundreds of Baton Rouge residents celebrated Thanksgiving a little early this year, thanks to a local charity.
The Salvation Army of Greater Baton Rouge handed out about 500 plates of food to Brookstown residents today. It included everything from turkey and stuffing to green beans and cranberry sauce.
The Salvation army has seen a growing number of families needing extra help during tough economic times, so they're doing what they can to spread some cheer. They've handed out holiday helpings in Brookstown the day before Thanksgiving several years now.
