BATON ROUGE, La (WVLA) A robbery caused panic today at the Mall of Louisiana. It happened a little after noon. A man in a navy blue hoodie shattered a glass jewelry display case at "The Gold Center" kiosk after spraying one of the employees' faces with mace. The sound of the shattering glass was mistakenly reported as gunshots by people throughout the building. The sounds caused many to flee for the door and exit en masse.

An entrance to the mall has been blocked. The robbery suspect has not been apprehended at this time, but officials say he is no longer in the building.

The Mall of Louisiana has reopened.
