Food chain industry and other food companies are so much affected of the policy proposed by NYC Mayor Michael Bloomberg. He recently submitted a plan to the federal government that he felt would combat obesity and diabetes. Sugar-added soft drinks and sodas would no longer qualify for federal food stamp money, if Bloomberg's proposal was accepted. The United States Department of Agriculture, however, put a stop to the plan. Article source: Federal food stamps can still be used to purchase soda.
