BATON ROUGE, LA (NBC33) — Put on your boogie shoes and prepare to help save some lives. On Thursday, June 9, the United Blood Services is hosting its 3rd annual 24-hour blood drive.
The theme of this year’s marathon is “Boogie on the Bayou.” The local owned Guaranty Broadcasting (The Eagle and Tiger FM) will be on hand to help give out some pretty fantastic prizes.
An iPad, bracelet from Adler’s Jewelry, and a one year membership to Bally Total Fitness are just some of those prizes. But the real prize is the gift given by those who attend.
The goal of the event is to gain as many blood donations as possible. The critical service is one that helps save lives.
“More than 5000 pints of blood are needed each month,” says Sarah Williams, Donor Recruitment Supervisor for United Blood Services, explained. “The generosity and commitment to the community blood program from Guaranty Broadcasting and many area merchants is sincerely appreciated.”
The event will begin at 7 a.m. tomorrow and run until 7 a.m. the next day. That’s all happened at United Blood Services, 8234 One Calais Ave, Baton Rouge.
