Baton Rouge, La (NBC33) — Mayor Kip Holden is "crazy" about a new summer book, which is part of the One Book, One Community summer selection program. The program has been endorsed by the mayor since 2006.
This summer's pulitzer prize winning book, "Crazy" , is about a father's struggle to help his son through mental illness.
Co-Chairwoman Robin Kistler says this book will give insight into our country's inferior mental health system.
"I really think this book. At first can be intimidating, but once you start to read it, you really discover what problems we do have... that mentally ill patients are now housed in prisons and jails in America where they're not getting the help they're needing, " said Kistler.
