NEW IBERIA, La (NBC33) — Gov. Bobby Jindal and CARBO Ceramics Inc. CEO Gary Kolstad announced Tuesday that CARBO will invest $17 million in an expansion of its Airport Industrial Park facility in New Iberia. That will create 40 new jobs and keep 75 existing jobs. It will also employee about 100 construction workers during the renovation process.
The new job positions at the facility will average about $50,000 a year. CARBO manufactures proppant, which is used by oil production companies to boost the output of oil and gas wells.
Louisiana Economic Development estimates the expansion will result in 86 new indirect jobs in the Acadiana Region. LED estimates the project will bring in $4.1 million in new, state tax revenue and $1 million in local tax revenue in the first ten years.
