May 29, 2011 — GONZALES, LA (NBC33) - This weekend was 44th Annual Jambalaya festival in Gonzales.
This city of 9700 swells to over 25,000 each year at this time from folks pouring in all over the country, and Europe.
It pumps up the economy in Gonzales by filling hotel rooms and area shopping centers.
Jambalaya cook Scott Duplechein says it's a matter of town pride to make the best jambalaya.
"It's just special, you know, it's a lot of good cooks, it just means a lot in the community to win, and to compete, it's just a lot of fun." said Duplechein
