Local agencies team up to track a suspected bank robber. East Baton Rouge deputies say with help of several law enforcement agencies they were able to bring down a man they consider extremely dangerous.
After months of investigating, the East Baton Rouge Sheriff’s Department arrested 27-year-old Joseph Collins late Wednesday night. Collins is believed to be responsible for several bank robberies. Deputies also arrested Collins’ ex-wife, 23-year-old Nadia Collins. She’s accused of purchasing money orders with more than $1,100 worth of bleached cash last month.
The Sheriff’s Department considers Collins to be a dangerous suspect since he managed to get away with more than $9,000 after allegedly threatening to blow up two of the three banks. The most recent incident happened Tuesday at Capitol One Bank on O’Neal Lane.
Joseph Collins faces several charges including two counts of first-degree bank robbery, attempted first-degree robbery, and possession of a fake explosive. Nadia Collins faces two counts of accessory after the fact to first-degree robbery. Investigators say there is a possibility Collins could be linked to other robberies and expect to add more charges.
