LOUISIANA (NBC33) — Hurricane season starts next week on June 1, but Governor Jindal has proclaimed that this week, May 22-28, is Hurricane Preparedness Week. The goal: to help encourage all Louisiana citizens to get ready for a possible storm.
“GOHSEP urges everyone to get a game plan and be ready before the start of hurricane season. Currently, the state is heavily engaged in preparing for and responding to the Mississippi River flooding event, but we are also busy preparing for Louisiana’s biggest natural threat – hurricanes,” said GOHSEP Director Mark Cooper. “We encourage everyone to have a plan for themselves, their families and their pets.”
All week we will bring you tips on NBC33 News at 5 p.m. on how to prepare for a possible storm. Also, our annual Hurricane Guide will be out on stands next week.
