NEW ORLEANS (AP) - Tulane University President Scott Cowen says the school will launch a campaign to raise more than $1 billion, the biggest amount in Tulane's 175-year history. Cowen said two administrators have been promoted and will be major participants in the fundraising drive. That will take effect Oct. 1. Tulane spokesman Mike Strecker said no further information, including a precise monetary goal or a timetable for the drive, is available. Strecker said a major goal of the campaign is to enrich Tulane's endowment. While the endowment itself isn't touched, the income from interest it generates pays for an array of items, including
scholarships, programs and salaries for star faculty members.
