ST. FRANCISVILLE, La (NBC33) — Water levels in lower St. Francisville continue to rise where the old ferry landing used to be. Residents say this area floods every year. Their area of the Mississippi is not protected by a levee, so residents normally expect a little flooding. However, they say, this year has been worse than others years.
All of the flooding is localized to a small portion of St. Francisville. Most of the tourist town is open for business.
People from neighboring towns and parishes say they've stopped in St. Francisville just to see some of the flooding. Some say they've seen alligators in the water near that area.
Right now, about six or seven homes are under water, but some residents say they don't expect to see the flooding get too much worse, especially now that the Morganza Spillway has been opened.
