BATON ROUGE, La (NBC33) — Red Stick residents are happy the river's crest is now projected to be lower than expected.
Since the Morganza spillway was opened this weekend, a lot of people have been preparing for a flood of historic proportion; however, in the Capital City, the river levels are at a height many here can live with.
"I'm very happy, I would not like to see people lose their homes, i've seen what flooding can do, there's just nothing left," said Arthur Harrison, a retiree.
Teacher Priscilla Martin agrees. "I think we can have a confidence in our Army Corps of Engineers that our money was well spent," she stated.
