Baton Rouge, La (NBC33) —
The US Coast Guard could shut down the lower Mississippi between Baton Rouge and the mouth of the river as early as Sunday.
NBC33 spoke with the Coast Guard, and they say it is not an option right now, but say people who push raw materials up and down the river are very concerned.
If the river were to shut down, large ships and barges would not be allowed to navigate that stretch of river until the levels go down.
