Krotz Springs, La (NBC33) — KROTZ SPRINGS, La (NBC 33) - Governor Bobby Jindal made his way to the Saint Landry Parish town today to check on how real people are coping with the threat of flooding and to check in on the construction of a new two mile levee.
The new levee will help protect the homes in this small town, if the Morganza Spillway is opened as expected. Angel Guillory lives near the levee and is the glad to see it built, “it’s our lifeline really. It’s a lifeline for us that live here.”
The Governor says the levee should protect more than 240 homes and expects completion of this levee before the high waters hit Krotz Springs. Even if they do, residents in Krotz Springs say they are prepared, “I lived here in ‘3, we had a little, bitty levee, just dirt and no water came over it, but if water should come over it I have a plan to go.”
