STORMTRACKER33 — RIVER TRACKER- Terrebonne Parish President Michel Claudet said the final decision to open the Morganza Spillway are still being studied. Mr Claudet was told, after a late Thursday meeting with the Army Corp of Engineers, the Morganza Spillway could be opened as early as next week. Terrebonne Parish residents should be making plans, in case they are asked to evacuate.
1973 was the first and only time the Spillway was employed and then flooding was wide spread and long. Now Terrebonne Parish has seen residental areas built on what flooded back in 1973. The volume of water now is greater than the 1973 Flood so there are real concerns for the residents safety.
Terrebonne Parish annouced the following sandbag locations:
Bayou Black Fire Station, 2820 Savanne Road, Houma
Gibson Fire Station, 110 Merry Moss Street, Gibson
East Gibson Fire Station, 5218 North Bayou Black drive, Gibson
Donner-Chacahoula Fire Station, 1805 La. 20, Schriever
