Baton Rouge, La (NBC33) — One local lawmaker is proposing another bill to toughen penalties against sex offenders.
Representative Bodi White of Central wants to increase the sentence for someone who sexually abuses the elderly or mentally handicapped to 25 years.
As of now, the maximum sentence is ten years.
The bill is in committee right now, so it’s too soon to know if or when it'll head to the floor for a vote.
