April 26, 2011 — BATON ROUGE (NBC33) - The Battle of the Budget continued today as Southern students and faculty took to the steps of the capitol.
There've been Southern rallies in the past, but nothing like the one you see here.
People showed up in force to let state officials know how they felt about the recent budget cuts, and the merger.
Southern SGA president Demetrius Sumner says the way to fight back, is through grades.
"From a student perspective, the most important thing that we can do is make sure we're excelling in the classroom. That, we're proving them wrong, that we can graduate in a set amount of time, and that we support the system." said Sumner
