BATON ROUGE, LA (NBC33) — On this first day of the regular legislative session, Lt. Governor Jay Dardenne announced a special challenge to the House and Senate. His goal – to see who will be the biggest looser by the close of session in June.
Lawmakers have been asked to incorporate Louisiana seafood into their diet for the remainder of this year’s Legislative session. It’s part of a new campaign being pushed by the Louisiana Seafood Marketing Board.
“When people think of Louisiana seafood, they think of fried food, and they forget that seafood is actually very healthy,” Ewell Smith, Executive Director of the Seafood and Marketing Board, explained. “Louisiana has traditionally been at the bottom of the chain when it comes to fitness and obesity. We’re trying to shine the light on the positive aspects we have that we’ve never been able to do before.”
