BATON ROUGE, La (NBC33) - — A Louisiana lawmker says talking on your cell phone and driving should be illegal.
Representative Badon of New Orleans is proposing the bill when the session starts on Monday.
He says it's safety issue - that needs to be addressed.
Most people we spoke with are on board with House Bill 337. It would ban the use of handsets on the road - but using hands free devices, like bluetooths, are okay.
The fines for using your phone range from $100 for the first offense to $250 for the fourth time your caught.
Proposals like this have failed before in Louisiana. But - there is a law banning texting and driving.
