Plaquemines Parish, La (NBC33) — It's not just the coast and marshes that suffered in this crisis; eleven families of the men who died on the Deepwater Horizon were also deeply impacted.
Many officials say these eleven are the forgotten victims of the Crisis on the Coast.
Plaquemines Parish President Billy Nungesser says he wants to make sure these eleven are never forgotten. He's planning to unveil an eight foot statue in Venice to remember the men who died on the rig.
“All through this disaster we talked about the animals, and the wetlands because that's what was in our face,” stated Nungesser. “But the most important thing that we make sure this never happens again because those eleven men sacrificed their life for this oil production and our way of life down here. We have to remember them.”
