April 16, 2011 — BATON ROUGE (NBC33) - Saturday the University of Phoenix graduated their Class of 2011.
It was all smiles as the graduates walked across the stage in the Baton Rouge River Center.
Except these were people from all walks of life, young, and old.
Such students included former military, housewives, and cancer survivors. These people sought out their education, even though life got in the way.
"Since married and I have four children, and a few years ago one of my sons asked me why I didn't have a degree? So I decided to go back and went back a month later and here I am." Kathy Drake Gebo

"I was diagnosed with Breast Cancer at age 26, I was halfway through my degree program when I found out it was hard going to class in between chemo treatments but I made it, and I'm here today." Crystal Anderson
