It was a heated day in court for the sentencing hearing of India Hickman, 18, who is charged with manslaughter.
Hickman pleaded guilty to killing 15-year old Eltonique Clark of Baton Rouge back in October. The two were involved in a street fight. That’s when Hickman stabbed Clark in the neck, killing her.
Today Clark’s two sisters gave statements on their sister’s behalf. Hickman’s mother also offered an impassioned plea for mercy regarding her daughter’s sentence. Hickman was facing 40 years in prison.
During the hearing things became so heated that one family member had to be removed from the room by Sheriff’s deputies, as ordered by Judge Bonny Jackson. Silence was ordered for the remainder of sentencing.
