Baton Rouge, La (NBC33) — Cooks from all over the country came out to LSU to see who's chili was the best, and to earn a spot in the World Chili Competition on March 27.
Folks poured into the 4-H Mini barn to sample and judge some of the country's finest chili. Even better was the fact that it cost only one dollar to sample all the different chilis. The winner gets a chance to go to the world competition in Nebraska this October.
This event was made with the whole family in mind, not just the chili lover; there were space walks, talent shows, and even a classic car show.
All the money raised from the event goes to Our Lady of the Lake Children's Hospital and Catholic Radio.
Cook-off chairman Eric Miller said with a type of event where everyone can have fun for a dollar or less, that's an event where everyone wins.
"I think they both benefit, I know the cookers and the chili contestants are having a great time, and the people that come out have a wide variety of food they can partake in, and taste. " said Miller.
