PRAIRIEVILLE, La (NBC33) -- The Louisiana State Police Troop A identified Brandon Rome, 25, of Marrero as the man who was struck and killed in a traffic accident on Sunday, March 13.
At approximately 9:45 pm, Troopers responded to the call on LA 73 near LA 74 in Ascension Parish. A preliminary investigation revealed that Rome was crossing LA 73 when he was struck by a northbound 1995 Dodge Van in the northbound lane. The man was pronounced deceased on the scene by the Ascension Parish Coroner’s Office.
Troopers have submitted samples of the drivers’ blood from the Interstate 10 crash to the Louisiana State Police Crime Lab for chemical analysis. It is unknown at this time if the drivers had any alcohol or drugs in their systems. Troopers have also submitted a sample of the pedestrian’s blood to the crime lab. The woman driving the van on LA 73 voluntarily submitted a breath sample, which showed that she had no detectable alcohol in her system.
