BATON ROUGE (NBC33) -- The couple who owns the home in Baton Rouge did not want to be shown on camera. But they do want to tell their story, because they need your help.
The more than 70 cats living inside their home need to be adopted. Neighbors are complaining about the smell and animal control is only holding off removing them as long as the couple is making progress reducing the number of cats living there. Two years ago they started working with Northside Humane and Spay Baton Rouge, local nonprofit animal welfare groups, for help. At the time, they had over 200 cats. Northside worked on adoptions, while Spay Baton Rouge began spay and nuetering the cats.
Satuday, the last 35 cats will be fixed, thanks to Spay Baton Rouge and Northside, and not a moment too soon. Just this week, two more litters were born at the house, leaving six more kittens in need of a home.
