BATON ROUGE, LA (NBC33) – There is an ongoing nationwide search for the two trustees who escaped from a work detail at Louisiana State Police headquarters.
Police say the fugitives, Ricky Wedgeworth and Darian Pierce, are responsible for possibly killing David Michael Cupps after kidnapping him in Vicksburg, Mississippi. Cupps' body was found today at a Comfort Inn in Bessemer, Alabama by a patron of the hotel.
The Louisiana State Police, the U.S. Marshalls, the FBI as well as several local law enforcement agencies in several states are currently looking for the two men. Authorities believe they may currently be hiding out in the Jackson, Tennessee area. Law enforcement agencies say the two need to turn themselves because the search will continue until they are apprehended
David Cupps’ wife is appreciative that law enforcement agencies are doing everything they can to catch those that allegedly killed her husband, but believes his death could and should have been avoided.
