GRAMBLING, La (NBC 33) - Former Player and Coach Doug Williams is back and at the helm of the Grambling football program once again.
Williams, the winning Quarterback of Super Bowl XXII, used to play QB for the Grambling State Tigers, and he eventually went on to coach his Alma Mater's football team from 1998-2003. In this time period, Williams amassed a 53-17 record including three straight Southwestern Athletic Conference titles.
Coaching at Grambling once again will mean a little more to Williams, because this time around he will have the opportunity to coach his son D.J., who signed to play for the tigers next season.
"It is very rare that a father gets to coach his son at the college football level." Williams said in a release issued by the United Football League. “I went to school there, I coached there, and now I have a great opportunity to coach there again."
