BATON ROUGE, La (NBC33) – Quite the traffic jam in downtown Baton Rouge at lunch time today. The culprit – a demonstration by PETA (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals).
On the corner of Third and Florida, people walking or driving saw a couple, nearly naked, on a mattress. It was a publicity event for PETA. Organizers say they’re trying to get people to cut meat from their diets altogether.
"You'll also jumpstart your health by reducing risk for heart attack, cancer, stroke and diabetes," Kristina Addington, PETA spokesperson, said at the demonstration today.
PETA members held up signs that say “Vegans Make Better Lovers.” And the people on the mattress were occupied for the entire lunch hour.
