BATON ROUGE, La (NBC33) -- Good news for seafood lovers. Crawfish season is officially underway.
Mudbug lovers can finally get their seafood fix. They say seafood was harder to come by and more expensive the last couple of months. Now, restaurants selling the Cajun favorite say the demand is on the rise. The amount of crawfish being sold has increased since last year at this time.
"We've got a lot of tables asking for crawfish. We got phone calls all day. We're one of the few places in town that are serving crawfish, so the buzz and the excitement is certainly there," says Eric Gelonek with Sammy's Grill.
The winter weather has caused a slow start to the season, but not to wrry. Vendors expect to see bigger crawfish in the pot over the next couple of weeks.
