BATON ROUGE, La (NBC33) - Governor Jindal wants long term protection for TOPS - and he says he wants an amendment to the State's Constitution to get it done.
The Governor wants to cap money coming into a trust fund and move it to TOPS. He says that'll bring $43 million to the program every year for now - and $70 million a year down the road.
Jindal says so far -500,000 in the state have benefIted from TOPS - and he wants that number to go up. According to the Governor's Office - 50% of Louisiana kids in college are on a TOPS scholarship. The 6 year graduation rate is 57%.
