PORT ALLEN, La (NBC33) -- An undercover drug buy gone sour in West Baton Rouge leaves a narcotics agent under investigation and an 18-year-old man dead. Now his grieving family wants answers.
Eighteen-year-old Eric Williams was shot and killed Wednesday night after deputies say he busted in on a drug bust to steal Loritab. His family says, they don't believe that story.
The last time Shaneka Williams saw her son, he was supposed to be running errands. "He said, 'mama, I'll be right back. We're going to Walmart.' Then he never came back. He never came back."
Instead, Williams ended up at the Motel 6 in Port Allen. That's where an undercover deputy was supposed to buy $50 worth of Loritab from a woman named Melissa Mile.
"He don't sell no pills," his mom claims.
According to the West Baton Rouge Sheriff's Office, Williams came into the room wearing a ski mask and tried to rob the undercover agent. Those investigating the case say the deputy reacted when Williams pulled a gun on him, by kicking him to the ground and shooting him.
"They killed my child," says Williams. "I'm not going to rest until something happens."
"Williams had a criminal history, and spent time in jail for it. Still, his family is convinced he wasn't in the wrong that night. Instead, they grieve, wishing he just would have ended up back at home.
"They didn't have to kill him," says Williams. "They didn't have to kill him."
