BATON ROUGE, La (NBC33) -- If you are making your way to the Baton Rouge Airport, you may have to pack your patience. The severe winter weather has caused flight delays since Sunday, Jan. 9. The southeast has seen more than two-thousand flights not leave their gates on time.
Baton Rouge is also feeling the effects of the bad weather. According to FlightView.com , more than twenty percent of flights out of the capital city are either late or very late.
The problems are even worse at the world's busiest airport, Atlanta’s Hartsfield Jackson International, where nearly half of all its departures are not currently scheduled to leave on time.
The major airport with the worst record for on time flights though is Newark Liberty International in New Jersey. According to “Travel and Leisure,” more than thirty percent of all its flights are late.
On a positive note the U.S. Department of Transportation reported today that last November marked the second straight month that not one passenger at a major airport had a flight delay of more than three hours.
