BATON ROUGE, La (NBC33) – The phone kept ringing at area Pizza Hut stores, but no one was there to answer the call. That’s because they were shut down today due to a lawsuit.
Larry Lundy is the franchise owner of forty-four Pizza Hut stores. They span from Baton Rouge to New Orleans. For nearly a year, he’s been locked in a legal battle with the head office. They’re saying Lundy has failed to pay the proper royalties and advertising fees to keep the franchise license.
According to the lawsuit, Lundy’s debts to Pizza Hut are more than what his business has.
In a statement to NBC33 News, Larry Lundy says he’s optimistic the stores will reopen with “the assistance of the justice system.”
