BATON ROUGE (NBC33) - Many players on the Parkview Baptist football team know this feeling all too well. Just a year ago the Eagles were preparing for the 3A State Championship game against Notre Dame. The Eagles fell short in that game losing 14-7, leaving a bitter taste in their mouth.
This week the same prize is on the line, just against a different opponent. The Eagles will face Patterson in the title game at approximately 8 p.m. in the Louisiana Superdome on Friday.
Last Friday, Head Coach Kenny Guillot and his team got revenge on the Notre Dame School that defeated them in the championship game. The Eagle defense pitched a shut out and even put points on the board when Brody Burkhalter intercepted a Pio pass and took it into the end zone for six. Parkview would go on to win 17-0.
For the Parkview players that win feels like a year ago. Their focus is now replacing the bitter taste from last year’s shortcomings with something a little more sweet.
