BATON ROUGE, La (NBC33) -- Almost seven decades have passed since Japan attacked Pearl Harbor, but for survivors, it feels like yesterday.
Today, cannons blasted and bag pipes played at 11:55 a.m., which is the exact time of the Pearl Harbor attack in Hawaii. Today, December 7, 2010, is the 69th anniversary of that day.
Pearl Harbor was the target of an unexpected Japanese attack that killed thousands of Americans, sank or severely damaged 18 ships of the U.S. Pacific Fleet and plunged the United States into World War II.
Today in Baton Rouge, friends, family and service men and women were on hand at the U.S.S. Kidd for the commemoration.
