BATON ROUGE, La (NBC33) -- In November, Charlie Cangelosi was critically injured after saving a pregnant woman from being robbed at gunpoint at an apartment complex near LSU. Cangelosi was shot after chasing the robber away from the woman. Now, after almost a month at Our Lady of the Lake, Cangelosi is on the road to recovery.
Discharged from the hospital, he and his family have decided to give back to the medical center that helped save his life. On Saturday, Dec. 4, they hosted a blood drive on LSU's campus. The goal was to replenish the supply of blood used to aid in the hero's recovery.
With supporters from all over the Capital City, the event took in over 80 units of blood, surpassing the amount used for Cangelosi.
