BATON ROUGE, La (WVLA)--It takes more than a little cool weather to keep Sarah Palin's fans away.
Hundreds bundled up, then lined up to catch a glimpse of the maverick in Baton Rouge. Palin signed copies of her new book "America By Heart" at the Books-A-Million in Town Center Tuesday morning.
Michael Matthews was first line when the doors opened. He earned the spot after spending the night in his truck over the weekend to get the coveted wristband.
"Got the number one wristband," says Matthews. "Got to see Ms. Palin first. Unbelievable woman. Took time with me. Didn't hurry us through."
Security was tight inside. The entire store was on lockdown for Palin's visit. Folks walking in had to leave their cell phones, cameras and even umbrellas at the door.
Palin allowed local media to film the signing for two minutes. She gave no interviews.
Store reps say they gave out some 800 wristbands.
