BATON ROUGE, La (WVLA) -- For more than 30 years, downtown Baton Rouge has lit up for the holidays. And this Friday, the Downtown Festival of Lights kicks off the city's oldest Christmas tradition with the sparkle of over half a million lights. Mayor Kip Holden will hit the switch just after sundown, but the Festival starts at 4pm. There's an art walk, shopping with local vendors, food and music - even free ice skating and a snow village.
The Downtown Festival of Lights will be in the River Center Plaza this Friday from 4pm to 9pm. You can park for free in the River Center's parking garage.
